PhotoFest: Sheridan Punches Ticket to 4A Football Championship
The high school season moved into the semi-final round over the weekend and in 4A, it was another game with another win as they defeated Natrona 24-8. The Broncs have won all 11 of their games this season and will be looking for their 4th consecutive 4A State Championship.
Sheridan opened the scoring in the first quarter on a 9-yard touchdown connection from Ty Gilbertson to Breck Reed to give the Broncs a 7-0 lead. As it turned out, Sheridan put enough points on the board in the 2nd quarter to win the game with Gilbertson finding Reed for 17 yards and a TD plus Gilbertson kicked a 26-yard field goal. The Broncs led 17-0 at the break.
After a scoreless third quarter, Gilbertson reeled off a 35-yard run to the end zone to bump the lead to 24-0. Natrona finally scored on a 3-yard pass from Kanai Olsen to Charlie True, but the Mustangs were held to just 170 yards of offense.
Sheridan will meet Cheyenne East for the 3rd straight year in the 4A championship at 4pm on Saturday at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie. Natrona finishes the year at 7-4.
