The Sheridan Broncs earned a 4A Wrestling state championship for the first time since 1990 on Saturday in Casper and had 3 individuals make the top of the podium Dane Steel took the 152 title and that was his 2nd state championship. Keltan Crow was the 160-pound champ and he placed 6th at 138 a year ago. Then there was Colson Coon who prevailed at 182 pounds.

Coon's accomplishments on the football field have been well documented as he was named the Gatorade Player of the Year and was a 4A all-state selection on offense and defense. Now he adds a state championship in wrestling to his resume as he defeated Colby Olsen of Cheyenne East 5-3 for the gold medal. Coon finished the year 28-5 and showed a lot of fortitude after a 2nd place finish at state a year ago at 170 pounds and a 2nd place finish in 2021 at 160 pounds. As a freshman, he took 4th at 145 pounds and competed in a whopping 61 matches that season.

Coon was happy with his performance on Saturday and happy for his team as they took the big piece of hardware home with them.
