Shoshoni Basks in the Glow of a State Championship
Shoshoni put it all together in 2021 with a stout defense and a talented offense. Only 3 times this season did the Wranglers allow double-digit points en route to the 1A 9 Man state championship. They put that defense on display in their 19-6 win over Rocky Mountain on Saturday in Laramie as the Grizzlies found the end zone just once and had 90 yards rushing on 28 carries.
This team also had a stable of superb offensive players, especially running the football. Although, they threw three touchdown passes in that title game. The Wrangler program got to the winner's circle for the first time since 1985 and this championship was well deserved.
We had a chance to talk with Shoshoni running back Pehton Truemper who had 118 yards rushing in the game, as well as quarterback Alex Mills and coach Tony Truempler who received the championship version of the ice bucket challenge after the game. Enjoy!
