Shoshoni entered the 2022 season ranked #1 in 1A 9-Man football thanks in part to winning the state championship in this classification last season. The Wranglers lost their season opener to a talented Pine Bluffs team but bounced back with a 53-0 victory over Greybull on Thursday. Pehton Truempler had 4 touchdowns in the game and the Wrangler defense was stifling.

When it's all said and done, Shoshoni will be right in the hunt for a 2nd straight state championship. All the pieces are there it's just a matter of the intangibles going their way

Greybull is 1-1 on the year and started out the season with a 28-14 win over Moorcroft. They do have a returning all-state player in Jake Schlattmann who also qualified for the National High School Finals Rodeo in the saddle bronc.

This week, Shoshoni will earn a forfeit win over St. Stephens but will send their JV squad to play the Eagles on Thursday. The varsity Wranglers will go on the road and meet the Cheyenne east JV. Greybull has a tough assignment his week at home vs. Big Piney.

A big thank you to Bridget Truempler for all the pics of that game on Thursday and you can see those in our gallery below.
