2024 Wyoming HS Alpine Skiing State Championship Preview

The 2024 Wyoming High School Alpine Skiing State Championships are this weekend to finish this season. Jackson is the host for races on Friday and Saturday. This year’s championships feature racing at different resorts. Friday is at Snow King Mountain Resort, while Saturday’s skiing is at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. There is one defending champion returning to this year’s state ski meet. That’s Jackson’s Travis D’Amours, who was the boys’ GS champion in 2023. There will be a new champion in the slalom race for the boys and both races for the girls.

GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP BREAKDOWN:

Defending Champ = Jackson (seeking 15th consecutive title & 44th in school history)

Defending Event Champs = There will be a new champion in both races.

Teams Participating = Cody, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Natrona County, Pinedale.

Schedule:

Friday: Giant Slalom on Elk ski run at Snow King Mountain, 10 a.m. Varsity girls will ski first.

Saturday: Slalom on Werner Ski run via Après Vous Quad Chair at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, 10 a.m. Varsity girls will ski first.

2015 was the last time a skier not from Jackson won an alpine skiing state championship race.

BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP BREAKDOWN:

Defending Champ = Jackson (seeking a 13th straight title, 43rd in school history)

Defending Event Champs = Travis D’Amours of Jackson in the GS race. There will be a new champion in the slalom race. D’Amours won the slalom 2 years ago.
