Behind a strong effort from their stars, the Jackson Hole Broncs made it two Class 4A girls’ soccer state championships in a row nearly two weeks ago in Gillette. At Thunder Basin High School, Jackson defeated Laramie in the title match, 3-1. Ruby Hoelscher scored twice, and the Broncs’ defense held a potent Plainsmen squad to only one tally. It gave Jackson its ninth girls’ soccer crown in school history.

Hoelscher opened the scoring with a goal in the first half, and Jackson held that lead at halftime. Laramie got on the board thanks to Ava Wallhead, who found the back of the net just four minutes into the second half. That tied it at 1-1.

It stayed that way until Hoelscher was fouled in the box. She converted the ensuing penalty kick for a 2-1 lead with 17 minutes left in the match. Senior Taylor Moe added insurance just over three minutes later. The final was 3-1. Hoelscher was credited with two goals and one assist in the game. She concluded the season with 25 goals and 20 assists. Moe’s goal was her eighth of the season. Senior keeper Harlie Rommel made 10 saves in goal for Jackson.

WyoPreps captured the PK goal, the end-of-match celebration, and more jubilation on the awards stand. We spoke with Hoelscher, Moe, and Rommel about the victory, how they were feeling, what it took to win this title, some keys to beating Laramie, facing a different foe in the championship, and more.

Jackson wrapped up 2026 with a record of 16-2-1. Laramie finished at 13-2-2.
