Green River senior Isabel Vasco was named the Gatorade Wyoming Girls Soccer Player of the Year on Thursday. This award is for the 2025-26 season. GREEN RIVER'S ISABEL VASCO EARNS 2026 GATORADE WYOMING GIRLS SOCCER AWARD

Vasco led the state with 54 goals during her senior campaign and added 10 assists while leading the Wolves to the 4A state tournament. Green River finished 10-7-3 in the 2026 season. Vasco averaged 3.2 points per match this year. In three matches at the state tournament, she scored 11 goals and recorded 3 assists, helping the Wolves reach the 4A consolation match. Isa is a three-time First Team All-State selection. She was also chosen for the Region IV Olympic Development Program five times. Vasco finished as the state’s all-time leading scorer with 224 career goals. That annihilated the old mark of 106. Vasco was also a two-time 4A West Region Player of the Year on the basketball court and graduated as the program’s leader in career points and steals. She is a finalist for the prestigious Milward Simpson Award, given to the state's outstanding female athlete. It is considered the highest honor a prep athlete can earn during their prep career.

A devoted member of 4-H, Vasco raises steers as part of that involvement. She has participated in multiple community service initiatives in association with the National Honor Society, and she has also donated her time as a youth soccer coach. Isa maintained a 4.15 weighted GPA in the classroom. She will play soccer on scholarship at the University of Wyoming starting in the fall.

GRHS head coach Matt Robles explained how Vasco played at a different level.

“What truly distinguishes Isa is her love for the game and her desire to compete. She possesses a rare combination of speed, creativity, technical skill, composure, vision, and finishing ability. I don’t expect to coach a player like Isabel ever again.”

This award recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field. It distinguishes Vasco as Wyoming’s best high school girls’ soccer player. She is now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year award, to be announced later this month.

Vasco joins recent Gatorade Wyoming Girls Soccer Players of the Year Ruby Hoelscher (2023-24 and 2024-25) of Jackson, Ally Boysen (2022-23) from Cody, and Cena Carlson (2021-22) from Thunder Basin High School, among the state’s list of former award winners.

As part of Gatorade’s commitment to breaking down barriers in sport, every Player of the Year also receives a grant to donate to a social impact partner. To date, the Gatorade Player of the Year program has provided more than $6.4 million in grants to winners across more than 2,200 organizations.
