Spencer Wright from Green River Commits to Labette College

Spencer Wright of Green River was one of the most consistent wrestlers in the state over the course of the last 3 years. He won over 100 matches during that time period and now will wrestle at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kansas.

In his senior year. Green River won the 3A State Championship and Wright took 4th at 126 pounds to fish the year at 31-14. He also had a nice run through the Ron Thon Tournament in Riverton with a 2nd-place finish at 126, losing to Roany Proffit of Kemmerer in the championship match 7-5.

In his junior year, Spencer went 36-10 and took 5th at the 3A State Tournament at 113 pounds. The Wolves by the way won the 3A team championship and Wright was the runner-up at 113 pounds at the Ron Thon Tournament.

Spencer had a solid season as a sophomore as he placed 2nd at the 3A State Tournament at 106 pounds with a narrow 2-0 loss to Coaltyn Laird of Lander. He was 34-8 in 2022 and took 5th place at the Ron Thon at 106.

Labette College competes at the junior college level and is a member of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
