Defending 3A Football state champion Star Valley has been rolling along with 6 wins in 6 games. Their closest encounter was a 27-21 win over Sugar-Salem, Idaho but 5 wins have been one-sided affairs. The Braves took their show on the road back on Friday and zoomed by Powell 42-7.

Star Valley wide receiver Bryson Nield had a game to remember as he caught 18 balls for a state-record 291 yards. That's an incredible performance and his touchdown catch came in the first quarter, covering 31 yards. The Braves exploded on offense in the 2nd quarter as  Grant Thomson had a 1-yard run for a score and quarterback Smith McClure tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Cooper Lancaster, one for 15 yards and the other for 4. The Braves at this point led 28-0

Powell got on the scoreboard with a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from Alex Jordan but Star Valley responded with a 4-yard touchdown throw from McClure to A.J. Hale. The Braves concluded the scoring with a 1 yard run to the end zone from Jayden Kunz. The Star Valley defense did a super job holding Powell to just 111 yards of offense.

Star Valley hosts Cody this week in a rematch of the 3A championship game from 2023, won by Star Valley 27-0. Powell has lost 2 straight and sits at 3-3 with a road game at Green River on Friday.
