Wyoming Indian has a long history of excellence in distance running with fourteen 2A State Championships since 2003. The Chiefs took home the championship trophy from Cheyenne on Saturday with a fantastic effort, placing 3 runners in the top 8 and 5 guys in the top 14. They won the state title by a single point over Burlington 32-33 with Thermopolis taking 3rd with 42 points.

Individually, Jadeth Elder of Thermopolis is the 2A state champ as he finished the Little America course in 17:43.80. Elder is no stranger to successful running as he placed 3rd at the 2023 State Cross Country Meet. Wright's Tobyn Teigen who was 7th last year bumped himself up to 2nd this year with a clocking of 17:50.27. Last year's 2A champion Howard McNiven of Burlington placed 3rd with a time of 18:04.14. His teammate Conner Hoyt was 4th and Colton SunRhodes was 5th. A year ago, Hoyt was 2nd at the State Meet and Sunrhodes was 6th.
