A trio of high school football players from Rocky Mountain High School in Cowley will remain teammates at the next level.

Grizzly players Nate Minemyer, Maddox Ames, and Kelden Boettcher recently signed to play at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, MT, for the Battlin’ Bears.

The trio helped Rocky Mountain to a pair of semifinal appearances and one runner-up finish in the Class 1A-9 Man division of Wyoming High School football over the last three seasons. The Grizzlies went 7-3 and fell to state champion Pine Bluffs in the semifinals of the 2022 season.

Minemyer was a four-year starter for Rocky Mountain. He earned all-state and all-conference honors three times in his prep career. As a senior last fall, Minemyer had 70 tackles on defense, which included 12.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. He also had four fumble recoveries.

Ames was an all-state and all-conference player in the 2022 season. He ran the ball 134 times for 971 yards and 10 TDs. Ames added seven receptions for 119 yards and one touchdown. He also returned two punts for 43 yards last season. On defense, Ames made 24 tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.

Boettcher was an all-conference selection as a senior last fall. He caught 17 passes for 353 yards and three TDs. On defense, Boettcher finished with 47.5 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks. He has won two Class 2A state championships in the triple jump and has been all-state in the pole vault. Boettcher helped Rocky Mountain to the Class 2A boys’ state championship in outdoor track and field in 2021.

Rocky Mountain College is part of the Frontier Conference and competes at the NAIA level of college football.
