Three Valor Baseball Players Sign for College in North Dakota
Three Valor Vikings baseball players have chosen to play at the next level with the Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) Lumberjacks.
Shortstop Alex DeBoer, pitcher/catcher Hunter Davis, and third baseman Nathan Davaiu are heading to Bottineau, ND.
They’ll be joined by teammate and outfielder Chris Castleman (not pictured), who will join the program as a preferred walk-on.
All four players helped Valor win the Senior Babe Ruth state championship in 2023.
DeBoer had a .347 batting average and a .440 on-base percentage with 35 RBIs in 36 games during his senior season for the Vikings. He hit the go-ahead 3-run home run for Valor in the state title game. His fielding percentage was .863.
Davis led the Vikings on the mound in the state tournament. He was 4-4 with a 5.86 ERA over 37.1 innings pitched. At the plate this season, Davis hit .271 with 19 RBIs and had a .510 on-base percentage. That was accompanied by a .943 fielding percentage. Davis also earned player of the week honors at the regional tournament in Canada earlier this year.
Davaiu finished with a .267 batting average with 12 RBIs and an on-base percentage of .460. He also maintained a .857 fielding percentage.
Castleman batted .301 with 17 RBIs and held a .449 on-base percentage. His fielding percentage was .868.
Valor finished its 2023 season at 23-16-1.
Dakota College at Bottineau is in Bottineau, ND. The Jacks are part of the Mon-Dak Conference of the NJCAA.
