The 4A football season kicked off on Friday with a re-match of last year's state championship game between Thunder Basin from Gillette and Cheyenne East. These two teams were the pre-season #1's in our WyoPreps.com poll and this turned out to be a thrilling game.

Cheyenne East went wild in the first quarter with 21 points and led 28-0 at one point in the contest. Thunder Basin chipped away with a super-productive 3rd quarter to wrestle the lead away. The Bolts hung on from there to win 39-34 and received an excellent game from running game Isaiah Halliburton who carried the ball 32 times for 213 yards. Cheyenne East quarterback Gavin Goff was 20-30 for 268 yards in a losing effort.

Thunder Basin will have their home opener this Friday against a talented Rock Springs team while Cheyenne East will travel to Casper to take on Natrona County. We have some images to show from that exciting game at Okie Blanchard Stadium. Enjoy!
