Torrington waited a long time to celebrate a football state championship; 33 years in fact but the Blazers got it done with a 28-26 win over Big Horn in the 2A title game in Laramie on Friday afternoon.

Running back Kaiden Riggs had a tremendous game with 25 carries for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also caught 4 balls for 80 yards and a touchdown and was tough to defend no matter where he was on the field.

Quarterback Bryce Hager had a sharp game too, going 9-14 for 172 yards and a TD. He ran the ball 22 times for 80 yards and a score as the Blazers had 180 yards rushing for the game.

It's those kinds of efforts that can take teams a long way and Torrington reached the promised land despite starting the season with 2 losses. We talked with Riggs and Hager after the game about their championship performance.
