Torrington Rallies to Beat Cokeville in 2A Playoffs
Some playoff games are more difficult than others and in 2A, Cokeville went toe to toe with Torrington on Friday night. Cokeville had a long road trip to get to Torrington and the Panthers struck first on a touchdown run from Moe Uasike to give them a 7-0 lead in the opening quarter.
Torrington tied the game in the 2nd quarter thanks to a 10 yard run to the end zone by Bryce Hagar but Cokeville responded with a TD reception by Treyson Dayton from Landon Walker to give the Panthers a 14-7 lead
The Blazers tied the game at 14 with a 1 yard TD plunge from Keiser Wolfe and that's the way it stayed until the 4th quarter. Torrington took the lead as Chase Miller caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Beau Bivens to make it 21-14. The Torrington defense held on from there in a game where both defenses were stout.
Torrington did win this game, 21-14 to get 8-2 on the year and their 2A semi-final game will be at home on Friday night vs. Lovell. Cokeville finishes the season at 5-4 in the last game for Todd Dayton as head coach. He is retiring after 42 years on the sidelines for the Panthers and 345 career wins. That 345 win total is #1 in Wyoming high school football and he also won 20 state championships. What a career!
