
Torrington’s Ryan Baker Signs With Black Hills St. for Track
Torrington's Ryan Baker is a versatile athlete and but track and field is the direction he wants to go at the next level. Baker has committed to the Black Hills State program in Spearfish, South Dakota to compete in the throwing events.
At the 2023 3A State Meet, Baker finished 2nd in the discus with a toss of 143 feet 7 inches and earned All-State status in the process. In his junior year, he placed 5th in the discus at 132-8 and took 14th as a sophomore at 111-6 so he has made a dramatic improvement in his career.
Baker also played basketball for Torrington averaging 6 points and 3 rebounds per game and played football as well with 19.5 tackles on defense.
Black Hills State is a Division II school that competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
