Douglas’ Trennan Pearson Commits to Black Hills State for Track and Field
Douglas grad Trennan Pearson has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete in track and field at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD. Pearson was a four-time qualifier for the state track championships. He won four 3A East Regional titles in his career. Pearson competed in three events at the state track meet in 2023 and 2024.
Pearson placed third or tied for third in the last three years in the Class 3A high jump. His personal best jump was 6-4. Pearson also placed sixth in the 110 hurdles and seventh in the long jump at last month’s state championships. His top time in the 110 hurdles was 16.57 seconds. Pearson’s best leap in the long jump was 20-11.75. He also ran the 100 meters and a leg on Douglas’ 4x100 meter relay in his prep career.
He won the high jump at the 3A East Regional track championships in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Last month, he added a title in the long jump at the regional track meet.
Pearson earned all-conference honors in football, basketball, and track at Douglas High School.
Black Hills State University competes at the NCAA Division II level. The Yellow Jackets are members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
