The Wheatland boys basketball team had to scratch and claw their way to the state tournament thanks to a couple of quality wins in the 3A East regional tournament. The Bulldogs beat Douglas and Rawlins before losing to Buffalo to take 2nd place. Wheatland started out state tournament play on the right foot with a 46-38 win over Worland as Luke Anderson, Mytchell Pollock, and Kobey Preuit were all in double figures with 13. 11 and 10 points respectively. In the 3A semi-finals, it was a different story as the Bulldogs fell behind to Lander by as many as 10 and lost 48-42. Pollock and Preuit each had 12 in what was a tough shooting night for the Bulldogs. Wheatland ended up taking 4th state as they lost to Buffalo in round 3 56-43. In that game, the Bulldogs trailed by as many as 27 and got 14 points from Anderson and 11 from Preuit. Anderson was an all-state selection and averaged 11points a game. He was a junior this past season. Preuit and  Pollock were too so there is a lot of build on for 2019-20.
