Its been a while but the Pine Bluffs girls finally won a state title in track and field as they prevailed over Wind River and Kemmerer on Saturday in Casper. The Hornets put 120.5 points on the board with Wind River getting 84.5 and Kemmerer 69. On the track on Saturday, the star of the show was Mindy Russell of Wind River who won all 3 sprint events. She took the 100 in 12.73, the 200 in 26.18 and the 400 in 56.34. Plus she ran the anchor leg of the winning 4x800 relay, which set a school record. Russell won that 400 for the 2nd year in a row. In the lone distance race on Saturday, Hailey Jones of Moorcroft repeated as the champion of the 1600, coming in at 5.19.43. Jozi Edwards of right zoomed to the finish line in the 100 hurdles in 16.61 with Wind River's Lue Herbert taking the 300 in 47.21. Be sure and check out our video of Saturday's events.
