Tommy Wonka of Buffalo 3-Peats as 3A Champ in 100 Breaststoke
Tommy Wonka of Buffalo knows exactly what he is doing in the 100 Breaststroke at the 3A State Swimming and Diving Championships. Back on Friday, he won the event for the 3rd year in a row in 55.09, the only guy to finish under a minute. At the 2025 3A State Meet, he placed first in the 200 I.M. in 1.57.36 and also was on top of the podium for the Bison as they took the 200 Medley relay. Wonka was also on Buffalo's 200 freestyle relay that placed 2nd.
In 2024, he swam 56.79 to win the 100 breaststroke at the 3A State Championships and went 56.51 in his sophomore year taking 1st, and received All-American consideration. Wonka took 2nd in the event at State as a freshman so he's been solid in his entire high school career. Wonka placed 3rd in 2023 in the 200 I.M. and 4th in 2022 plus, he has signed a letter of intent to swim at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.
We had an opportunity to visit with Wonka after his fabulous day at the pool and will take those results anytime.
