PhotoFest! Jackson Sweeps Natrona in 4A Soccer
The Wyoming High School Soccer season got underway over the weekend across the state and in Casper on Friday, Natrona played host to Jackson in girls and boys play. It was a little bit raw for the matches but there was plenty of intensity to begin the grind of the regular season.
The Jackson boys are the defending 4A State Champions and went 18-1 last season. The Broncs do have to replace 4 All-State players but do have 3 returning All-Conference players in keeper, Alex Balog, midfielder Finn Beninga, and defender Adi Wetzler. This is a formidable group and they posted a 10-0 win over Natrona on Friday and a 4-1 win over Kelly Walsh on Saturday.
The Natrona boys were 6-13-1 last season but did qualify for the 4A State Tournament, going 1-2. This is a young Mustang squad with just one senior and narrowly lost match #2 of the weekend, 2-1 to Star Valley.
The Jackson girl's team started the weekend with a 2-1 win over Natrona and the Broncs lost a couple of All-State players from a year ago but return a pair of All-State selections in Karoline Montes on defense as well as Ruby Hoelscher at the midfield spot. This team went 16-2-2 a year ago and lost to Kelly Walsh in the 4A State Championship match in 2024. In a rematch of that title match on Saturday, KW prevailed again 2-1 over Jackson in a tightly marked match.
Natrona returns a three-time All-State keeper in Rian Barthel and did qualify for the 4A State Tournament last season, going 0-2. The Fillies went 6-9-4 last season and this is a program that looks to be much improved in 2025.
We have some snapshots to share from the matches between Jackson and Natrona and those can be found in our gallery below. Enjoy!
