Now that teams have played some games, the coaches and media can put together the first rankings of the season.

Having the home field in the recent jamboree helped Gillette claim the #1 ranking in 4A Boys, heading into the start of conference play. Sheridan is out to a 3-0 start and claim the #2 position. Defending champion Cheyenne Central has a few question marks after settling for a scoreless draw at unranked Green River this past weekend, so the Indians have to settle for #3. Kelly Walsh is much improved from last year and are ranked #4. Rock Springs and Laramie share the #5 ranking. The Plainsmen visit #1 and #2 back to back on the road this weekend.

The voters had a decent idea on which teams to rank 1-4 in 3A Boys, but #5 is up in the air. Defending champ Jackson is on top and are on spring break for the moment. When they come back, they visit #2 Star Valley next Tuesday, who is also on a break. #3 Worland is only 1 vote behind the Braves, but it's still early in the season. Torrington maybe 0-2, but both losses have come vs. Nebraska opponents. The same thing happened last year, and the TrailBlazers recovered for a 3rd place finish at the state tournament. As for the #5...good luck trying to figure that one out. The voters could not decide between Douglas, Powell, Buffalo and Lander.

Regional Rankings: The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has ranked Jackson #10 in Region 3. The Region consists of teams in Wyoming, Utah, Nebraska and Iowa.

It should be no surprise (unless you're new), that the 4A Girls Rankings are dominated by the East. 3-time defending champ Cheyenne East is ranked #1, but #2 Gillette has been dominating opponents so far. The Lady Camels have outscored the competition 31-1. #3 Sheridan is looking pretty good as well, outscoring opponents 18-0. Laramie and Cheyenne Central are ranked #4 and #5, going into the start of conference play. East visits Central on Friday, while Gillette and Sheridan both visit Laramie this weekend.

There's a tie on top of the 3A Girls rankings. Worland and Jackson share top honors for now. Star Valley is not far behind both at #3. #4 Cody is 1-2, but both of their losses have come against teams ranked higher than them, which says something. It was a close call for the #5 ranking, but Buffalo was able to win that spot this week.

Regional Rankings: The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has ranked Cheyenne East #9 in Region 5. The Region consists of teams from Wyoming, Colorado, California, and Alaska.

Disclaimer: The polls have no official say or use on post-season positioning, and are only to be used as a measuring stick on the regular season. Please don’t read too much into the rankings.
