Wyoming High School Boys Basketball Rankings: Dec. 19, 2018
With most teams taking the 2 weeks off for the holidays, the question is going to be, can they maintain their spot in the coaches/media rankings, when they return to the court?
Cheyenne East may not have much to worry about in 4A. The #1 Thunderbirds won 4 games in 6 days vs. 2 Colorado teams, 1 from Florida, and got some revenge vs. #3 Kelly Walsh. Up next is the Energy Classic Tournament in Gillette, between the Christmas and New Years' Holidays. #2 Sheridan has a game vs. 3A Buffalo before the break. KW along with #4 Cheyenne Central won't play again until 2019 is here, while #5 Campbell County and unranked Thunder Basin will play next week.
Musical chairs is going on in the 3A Rankings. Buffalo maintains the #1 ranking, and hosts #2 4A Sheridan on Thursday. Douglas is in the top 5 at #3, after winning at #2 Lander last week, but the win wasn't enough to jump over the Tigers. #4 Worland will take 2 weeks off and then resume play, while #5 Torrington will play at a tournament in Sidney, Nebraska.
Most of the 2A action this week will be focused on the northeast quadrant as Moorcroft and Sundance will host several 2A and 1A teams. #2 Glenrock, #4 Wright and #5 Big Horn will all be there. #1 Pine Bluffs doesn't have any games scheduled until next year, while #3 Wyoming Indian will make 2 trips to Park County in as many weeks.
The top 4 teams in 1A will play out-of-state competition before taking their time off. Encampment has the #1 spot all to themselves, with Farson-Eden now at #2. Cokeville pulled off the big surprise last weekend, beating former co-#1, now #4 Upton. The voters put the Panthers at #3. Saratoga takes the final spot, heading into the break.

Because of the Holiday Break, the next rankings won't come out until January 9, 2019.
