The second week of the 2023 cross-country season in Wyoming features three in-state meets.

Lander, Buffalo, and Cheyenne are hosting meets in the state. Some teams are going to cross-country races in Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, or South Dakota.

This is the Week 2 schedule for cross country. All schedules are subject to change.

Thursday, Aug. 31:

Lander Invitational at the Lander Golf Course – Burlington, Fort Washakie, Green River, Lander, Riverton, Rocky Mountain, Saratoga/Encampment, Wind River, Wyoming Indian.

Burlington's Jessie Michaels won at 21:31.09. Riverton's Kaden Chatfield won his 2nd race of the season at 17:03.32.

 

Friday, Sept. 1:

Buffalo HS Cross Country Invitational at TA Guest Ranch Course – Big Horn, Buffalo, Douglas, Glenrock, Kelly Walsh, Lovell, Powell, Rawlins, Thermopolis, Tongue River, Worland, Wright.

Kinley Cooley of Powell won the girls' race at 20:28.22 She led Powell to the team crown. Trajn Swalstad of Worland took 1st in the boys' race at 16:48.08, Kelly Walsh won the boys' division.

Out-of-State Events:

Gering (NE) Invite at 5 Rocks Amphitheater – Burns/Pine Bluffs, Torrington.

Varsity results begin on Page 13.

Torrington's Sully Wilson won the boys' 5K race. Torrington placed 4th in the team standings.

Hardin (MT) XC Invite at Crow Agency – Big Horn, Cody.

Cody took 2nd in the girls division. Lillie Kirkham took 3rd. Cody won the boys' division. Charlie Hulbert was the winner at 16:23, 67.

Northern Hills Invitational at Jorgensen Park/Evans Park in Spearfish, SD – Campbell County, Moorcroft, Newcastle, Sheridan, Thunder Basin, Wright.

Sheridan won the girls' division with Kayley Alicke in 3rd place. Sheridan also won the boys' team crown.

 

Saturday, Sept. 2:

Wyoming Invitational at Little America Golf Course – Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Laramie, Natrona County, Riverton; Out-of-State entries from Colorado – Berthoud, Boulder, Dakota Ridge, Erie, Estes Park, Fort Collins, Fossil Ridge, Frontier Academy, Greeley West, Heritage Christian, Lyons, Monarch, Mountain View, Niwot, Peak to Peak Charter, Platte Valley, Poudre, Resurrection Christian, Rocky Mountain, Stargate, Thompson Valley, Timnath, Wiggins, Windsor.

Central's Bridger Brokaw won the boys' race at 16:15.5. Ally Wheeler of NC was 3rd (top Wyoming girl).

Out-of-State Events:

Cardinal Classic XC Invitational in Soda Springs, ID – Evanston, Green River, Jackson, Lyman, Mountain View, Rock Springs, Star Valley.

Star Valley's Habtamu Wetzel won the boys' race at 16:07.41. Star Valley took 2nd and Evanston was 5th in the boys' division.

Jackson's Madison Antonino was 6th and the top finisher from Wyoming.
