Week 5 of the high school golf season has state qualifiers and conference championships being contested on the links.

These are the final events before next week’s state championships.

Thursday, Sept. 9:

3A East Conference Championship – at Douglas C.C. – Buffalo, Douglas, Rawlins, Riverton, Torrington, Wheatland, Worland

Bryley Waring leads 2 shots and has helped Wheatland to the team lead after Day 1.

On the boys' side, it's Riverton on top and Parker Paxton leads by 5 shots.

4A East Qualifier – at Airport G.C. in Cheyenne – Campbell County, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Sheridan, Thunder Basin

Sheridan's Samantha Spielman and Central's Caden Cunningham lead after Day 1. The Sheridan girls and Central boys also lead the team race.

4A West Qualifier – at Purple Sage G.C. in Evanston – Evanston, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Natrona County, Rock Springs

Hailey Kalus from KW has a four-shot lead, while KW leads the girls' team standings by 20 strokes after Day 1.

KW's Tanner Warren leads by 1 after the first day. The Trojans lead Jackson by 2 shots in the team race.

Friday, Sept. 10:

3A East Conference Championship – at Douglas C.C. – Buffalo, Douglas, Rawlins, Riverton, Torrington, Wheatland, Worland

Macy Jones of Wheatland wins the medalist honor by 2 shots and leads the Bulldogs to the girls' team crown.

Riverton's Parker Paxton won by 16 strokes and helped the Wolverines take the team title on the boys' side.

3A West Conference Championship – at Rendezvous Meadows G.C. in Pinedale – Cody, Green River, Lander, Lovell, Lyman, Pinedale, Powell, Star Valley

Green River's Isabell Salas leads by 4 after Day 1. The Wolves enjoy a large lead in the girls' field.

Cody's Hunter Hall has a 12-shot lead. Broncs also lead by 18 shots in the boys' standings for teams.

4A East Qualifier – at Airport G.C. in Cheyenne – Campbell County, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Sheridan, Thunder Basin

Sheridan's Samantha Spielman wins by 14 strokes and carries the Broncs to the girls' team title.

Campbell County's Shay Leupold rallies and wins by 4 in the boys' division. Cheyenne Central captured the team crown.

4A West Qualifier – at Purple Sage G.C. in Evanston – Evanston, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Natrona County, Rock Springs

Kelly Walsh's Haily Kalus wins by 14 shots and helped the Trojans to a dominant team win, as well.

Sam Young from Rock Springs and Laramie's Jackson McClaren tied for first. Kelly Walsh narrowly won the team title by 2 shots.

Big Horn/Tongue River Invite – at Kendrick G.C. in Sheridan – Big Horn, Glenrock, Lusk, Moorcroft, Sundance, Tongue River, Wright

Sheridan Schubarth from Sundance won by four shots, while Big Horn's Hayden Tellez dominated by 16 strokes. Tongue River swept the two team crowns.

Saturday, Sept. 11:

3A West Conference Championship – at Rendezvous Meadows G.C. in Pinedale – Cody, Green River, Lander, Lovell, Lyman, Pinedale, Powell, Star Valley

Green River's Isabell Salas and Cody's Hunter Hall win the conference medalist honors. Green River and Cody take the girls' and boys' team titles, respectively.

 

The Thermopolis Invite, which was set to be a 1-day preview of the 2A state course, was canceled, as the school is in a shutdown due to COVID.
