Kelly Walsh played host to Star Valley in girls' and boys' soccer on Friday to start the season with weather conditions that are fairly normal this time of year; which means bring your coat and a knit hat. KW posted convincing wins in both matches in Casper so the Star Valley teams will be looking for traction as the season progresses. A year ago, the Braves were 5-9-1 and the Lady Braves were 2-11-2.

The Kelly Walsh girls are coming off a memorable season in which they won the 4A State Championship for the 2nd straight year, thanks to a 3-2 win over Jackson in the final. The Lady Trojans were 14-2-2 in 2024 and defeated a good Jackson team on Saturday in Casper 2-1. KW has a returning All-State player in Sydney Stephan at the forward spot and a returning All-Conference player in Kamryn Walker on defense. This group will be in every match they play in this season and KW had a very one-sided win on Friday as they beat Star Valley 14-0.

The Kelly Walsh boys made the 4A semi-finals last season losing to Cheyenne Central in the Final 4. The Trojans were 15-6 a year ago and this year, they'll have to replace a trio of All-State players. They do have a trio of All-Conference players returning in forwards Beau Barclay and Ethan Leslie as well as defender Laird Larsen. KW handled Star Valley 9-0 on Friday but lost to defending 4A State Champion Jackson on Saturday 4-1. The KW gets solid coaching and will be a factor in 4A this season.
