The 3A Soccer season is underway, and the Powell boys and girls won their season opening matches over the weekend. The Powell girls opened the campaign with an 8-1 win over Newcastle on Friday, so that was a solid effort to start things off.  The Panthers have a two-time All-State selection, Ivy Agee, who had 5 goals in that match and is also the placekicker for the Powell football team. The Panthers also have another two-time All-State pick in Coy Erickson, and she also scored in that Newcastle match.

Powell beat Douglas on Saturday 2-0, so this group will be formidable. Last season, the Panthers took 3rd at the 3A State Tournament. Newcastle has started the season 0-2.

The Powell boys' team qualified for the State Tournament in 2024, but they'll have to replace a couple of All-State players. The Panthers battled Newcastle and iffy weather on Friday and prevailed 3-0. Powell received a pair of goals from Braxton Batt and one from Cody Fisher.

The Panthers finished the weekend with a 2-1 road win over Douglas on Saturday, so they're 2-0 in the season. Newcastle is looking for their first win of the season, as they sit at 0-2.
