Each class of volleyball had at least a surprise or 2 last week, which caused some movement in the latest coaches/media rankings.

Voter turnout for 4A teams was a bit low this week. 2-time defending champ Cheyenne East retains the #1 ranking, with Kelly Walsh right on their heels at #2. Laramie lost twice last week, and drop them down to #5, allowing Gillette and Natrona to move up one spot each, to #3 and #4 respectively. There's some unfinished business to be settled on Saturday when Gillette visits East. The Lady Camels won the first conference game last month.

3A West teams got a good look at each other last week in Riverton, and the results helped undo the 3-way tie that was at #5. The host Lady Wolverines have that spot to themselves now. The top 4 are unchanged from last week. Star Valley is the unanimous #1, followed by Worland, Douglas and Buffalo. The Lady Bison visit the Lady Warriors in the big 3A game this Thursday.

3 of the top 5 2A teams lost last week, which scrambled up the new rankings. Wright retains the #1 spot, while Pine Bluffs jumps up to #2. Greybull ends up moving up one spot to #3, despite losing last week. Southeast drop to #4, and Sundance fell from #2 to #5, after losing twice last week.

The 1A rankings are reflective of how the teams finished at the Kaycee Invitational last weekend. Encampment, Farson-Eden, Little Snake River and Lingle-Ft. Laramie are the unanimous #1 through #4. Kaycee grabs the #5 spot, by 1 vote ahead of 3 other teams that were vying for that spot. The match to keep an eye on is on Friday, when the undefeated and defending champ Lady Tigers visit the Snake Pit.
