Ashten Hubbs of Cody Wins Her 2nd Wrestling Title
Cody's Ashten Hubbs has enjoyed an amazing high school wrestling career, and her senior season is still to go. So far in 3 years of competition at the prep level, she has a pair of State Championships to her credit and a 2nd place finish. Hubbs had to work hard on Saturday night in Casper in the 170 pound final, outlasting Lander freshman Harlie Gamble 16-9. Plus she had a challenging semi-final round match, prevailing over Sheridan's Bridgette Price 6-2. Hubbs rang up 37 wins this season with just 3 losses and also won the 170 pound title at the prestigious Ron Thon Tournament in Riverton.
Hubbs went undefeated in her sophomore year at 24-0 en route to the 170 pound State Championship and did so with 3 pins. She took the top of the podium at the Ron Thon Tournament as well at 170, which isn't easy to do. Hubbs took 2nd place at the 2023 State Tournament at 170, going 14-3 in that season, losing to Olivia Smith of Kelly Walsh in the final round 6-4.
We talked with Hubbs after her State Championship match at the Ford Center in Casper with maximum effort paying off.
