Powell wrestler Mitchel Wainscott showed exponential improvement in his career with the Panthers, and that certainly helped him attain a college opportunity to compete at Dickinson State in North Dakota. At the 2025 3A State Wrestling Tournament, Wainscott zoomed through the 175-pound weight class with 2 falls and a technical fall. He ultimately lost in the championship match to Garrett Haley of Pinedale, but it was a great run to finish the season 27-12. Powell, by the way, won the 3A team championship.

He also competed in the Ron Thon tournament in his senior year and went 1-1 at 175 pounds. In his junior year at the 3A State Tournament, Wainscott wrestled at 157 and went 2-2 with a season record of 16-15.  He also qualified for the 2023 3A State Tournament and went 1-2 at 138 pounds with a season mark of 16-17.

Dickinson State is an NAIA institution that competes in the Frontier Conference.
