When his prep career is over, Roany Proffit will become one of the most prolific wrestlers in Wyoming history. Over the weekend in Riverton, Proffit won the Ron Thon championship at 138 pounds with a hard-fought win over Andrew Gonzoles of Cheyenne Central by fall. Proffit rang up 4 pins and a major decision at the Ron Thon to improve to 39-1 on the year.

He's one of just five guys to win Ron Thon 4 times, and that's incredibly difficult to do. Proffit is a technically sound wrestler and doesn't let scoring opportunities slip away. He's also a 3-time 2A State Champion at 126 pounds going 43-6 in his junior year, 40-6 in his sophomore year, and 39-4 in his freshman season. His older brother Donny, won Ron Thon twice in his career to top-notch wrestling runs in the family.

We talked with Roany after Saturday's session in Riverton and he makes things look easy when in reality, they're not easy at all.
