The Shrine Bowl All-Star Game practices have been moving right along in Casper wth the 52nd annual football game set for Saturday afternoon at Natrona County High School. The South will go with Smith McClure of Star Valley and Fisher Frude of Laramie as their quarterbacks, so it's a lot of responsibility to learn the offense and get everyone on the same page.

Fisher Frude threw for 848 yards and 4 touchdowns this past season for Laramie and was also the team's leading rusher. He'll be proficient at the run-pass option that is prevalent in football thanks to being a well-rounded athlete. Frude competed in track and field in the pole vault event, and that's not easy. He finished 7th at the 4A Outdoor Championships last month in Casper, going 14-6, and took 5th at the Indoor Track Championships, clearing 13-6.

Bridger Cozzens of Little Snake River is coming from the 6-Man ranks, but these guys from the smaller schools have proven over and over again that they can compete with the players from 11-man football. Cozzens put up some eye-popping numbers this past season, among them a 482-yard rushing performance and 7 touchdowns in the 6-Man State Championship game. For the season, he rang up 2492 yards rushing with a whopping 51 TDs on the ground. In addition to that, Cozzens is the 1A State Champion in the shot put in track & field, and his 4x100 meter relay team also placed first.

During the course of the week, we talked with Fisher and Cozzens about playing in the Shrine Bowl and their prep careers. We also have a few snapshots of Wednesday morning's practice for the South team.
