The North prevailed over the South 34-28 on Saturday in the 52nd annual Shrine Bowl in Casper and did that with a punishing ground game. The North rang up well over 300 yards rushing in the contest with 3 touchdowns on the ground.

Cody's Grady McCarten went over 100 yards rushing in the game, and 47 of those came on a touchdown run in the 2nd quarter. He outran the South defense, getting to the end zone just in time. During the regular season for Cody, McCarten ran for 590 yards and 9 TDs and caught 3 touchdown passes. He showed his versatility with 37 tackles on defense, 10 of them for loss. McCarten was Cody's leading scorer in boys basketball, averaging 16 points a game.

We talked with him after the all-star contest on Saturday, and it was an enjoyable day.
