Sweetwater County has a good collection of athletes in this year's Shrine Bowl as Michael Faigl, Goodness Okere and Kael Anderson will compete from Rock Springs while Axel Mackinnon joins the squad from Green River.

Faigl will be sharing the South quarterback duties with Cam Hayes of Cheyenne East and this past season for the Tigers, Faigl threw for 1409 yards and 10 touchdowns along with 7 TDs on the ground to earn 4A All-Conference status. He also qualified for the 4A Outdoor State Track Meet in the long jump and finished 13th.

Axel McKinnon has been a solid 3-sport athlete for the Green River Wolves as was an 3A All-Conference pick as a wide receiver in football. He has sure hands and finds ways to get open on the football field so he has big-time value.

Mackinnon was an All-State wrestler for the Wolves as he finished 2nd twice at the State Tournament. He was the runner-up at 132 pounds in 3A in 2024 and the runner up at 120 pounds in 3A in 2023. Mackinnon was 70-19 over the course of those 2 seasons. In addition to that, he was an All-State selection in 3A soccer as Green River made a nice run through the 3A State Tournament to finish 2nd.

We caught up with these guys about their their thoughts on the Shrine Bowl practices and their memorable prep career's.
