The Big Piney girls track squad has enjoyed a great deal of success over the last 2 seasons. The Punchers won the 2A State Championship in 2023 and finished 2nd in 2024, 5 points behind Kemmerer.

This team received points from several athletes but Micah Strong set the pace with a pair of first-place finishes at the 2A State Meet over the weekend plus a 2nd place finish and a 4th place finish.

Strong repeated as the 2A state champion in the 400 Meters with a time of 59.17 and also repeated as the 800-meter champ in 2.21.18. She was the runner-up in the 100 Meters with a clocking of 13.08 and took 4th in the 1600 in 5.41.33. The Punchers by the way finished 1-2-3-4 in that event.

Strong has another season to go in track and field and 3 of the top finishers in that 1600 were juniors and one sophomore. We had a chance to chat with Strong about her thoughts about the 2024 State Track Meet.
