WyoPreps Coaches and Media Football Rankings Revert to a Familiar Look
Call it a small week of returns in this week’s version of the WyoPreps Coaches and Media Football Poll.
One team went back to No. 1, and two teams rejoined the rankings.
The Pine Bluffs Hornets moved back to the top spot in the Class 1A 9-man classification. They received 14 of the 21 first-place votes. Six of those first-place votes went to second-rated Wind River. Last week’s top team, Big Piney, fell to third. Lingle-Ft. Laramie rose one position in the poll for the first time this year. The Doggers checked in at fourth. Southeast fell to fifth after the Cyclones suffered their first loss of the season last week.
In Class 1A 6-man, the top four stayed the same as last week. Little Snake River earned all but one first-place vote, 18 of the 19. Encampment, Burlington, and Dubois were second, third, and fourth. Kaycee returned to the top five in fifth. It’s the first time the Buckaroos have been in the rankings since the preseason poll.
The same scenario played out in Class 2A. Cokeville jumped back in at No. 5. The Panthers were in the poll two weeks ago but were pushed out last week. Mountain View stayed at the top with 19 of the 23 first-place votes. Tongue River picked up the other four votes for first and held onto second. Big Horn and Lovell were third and fourth.
Class 4A shuffled the bottom three. Cheyenne East and Sheridan stayed first and second before their big showdown on Friday night. The Thunderbirds got 14 of the 19 first-place votes. The Broncs received the other five. Natrona County and Campbell County climbed up one spot to third and fourth. Thunder Basin fell to fifth.
There were no changes in Class 3A. Cody garnered 17 of the 23 first-place votes. Star Valley earned six first-place votes and held second. Powell, Buffalo, and Douglas rounded out the top five.
