WyoPreps Game of the Week: #2 Lovell at #5 Big Horn [VIDEO]

The WyoPreps small school Game of the Week as voted on by the fans is in Class 2A with No. 2 Lovell at No. 5 Big Horn.

Both teams had their season ended by the same opponent in 2021.

The Bulldogs were runner-up in Class 2A a year ago. They lost a tough 8-6 game to Lyman in the state championship in Laramie. Lovell finished 9-2 in 2021 with both losses to the Eagles.

Big Horn lost to Lyman in the first round of the playoffs in 2021, 42-20. The Rams went 3-6 last year.

Both teams return some key players for the 2022 season, which makes for an interesting match-up in Week 1.

WyoPreps talked with both head coaches, Kirk McLaughlin of Big Horn and Nicc Crosby of Lovell, before this game. The conversation focused on preparation for the season, how the scrimmage went last week, what they expect from each other, and some keys to victory.

Lovell and Big Horn are meeting for the ninth time on the football field. The first meeting was in 2012. The Rams lead the all-time series, 5-3. The Bulldogs have won the last two, 20-0 last year, and 26-0 in 2020.

The kick-off is at 6 p.m. in Big Horn.
