Zella Maez of Green River Inks NLI for Wrestling at Dickinson State
Green River senior Zella Maez is taking her wrestling talents to the next level.
On Wednesday, Maez committed to Dickinson State University for women’s wrestling.
The senior took third place in the 120-pound bracket at the inaugural Wyoming High School Girls Wrestling State Championships back in February.
Maez went 18-6 during her senior season for the Wolves.
Earlier this month, Maez was on the Wyoming High School Brown team at the AAU Twin Rivers wrestling duals in Des Moines, IA. She received Copper All-America honors.
Maez was also a state-champion diver at Green River High School. She won the 2022 Class 3A title last November with 349.20 points through 11 dives.
Dickinson State University is in Dickinson, ND. The Blue Hawks compete at the NAIA level of collegiate athletics. They are in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA). Dickinson State is just starting its women’s wrestling program.
