Pinedale standout Elyn Bowers is one of the latest basketball players to pass 1,000 points in her high school career. The Wrangler junior accomplished the feat at last weekend’s Flaming Gorge Classic in Green River and Rock Springs and needed just over two seasons to surpass the milestone.

Bowers, who was our WyoPreps Athlete of the Week winner for the girls last week, averaged 28 points and 7 rebounds per game in the three games Pinedale played at the tournament. She helped the Wranglers defeat three Class 4A schools, Star Valley, Evanston, and Green River, in the process. Elyn got to 1,000 points in the victory over the Braves. She scored 17 points in that game. Bowers followed that with a school-record 39-point outburst in the victory over Evanston the next day.

Already a two-time all-state selection, Bowers is averaging 23.7 points and shooting 49 percent from the field and 47 percent beyond the arc. She’s adding 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2.5 steals per game. Bowers shoots 83 percent at the free-throw line. She has helped Pinedale to a 6-1 start so far this season.

During the 2023 season, as a sophomore, Bowers averaged 20.5 points per game and shot 44 percent from the floor and 38 percent from deep. She also contributed 3.4 assists and 3.5 steals per game. The Wranglers finished with an overall record of 20-7 last season and lost in the 3A consolation championship game at the state tournament.

In her freshmen year back in 2022, Elyn contributed 14.8 points, 2.6 assists, and 3.5 steals per game. She shot 46 percent from the field. Pinedale went 19-8 and reached the 3A state basketball tournament.

Congratulations to Elyn on this accomplishment!
