Shoshoni's last state championship was back in 1985 when the Wranglers competed in 2A. In 2021, the Wranglers ascended to the top of the 1A 9 Man mountain with a 19-6 win over Rocky Mountain in Laramie on Saturday.

The Shoshoni offense produced 3 touchdowns, all on touchdown passes from Alex Mills and all of them going to Trey Fike. One of them in the first quarter, one in the 2nd quarter and one in the 3rd quarter. Pehton Truempler carried the ball 22 times for 118 yards.

Rocky Mountain got 86 yards rushing and 182 yards passing from Carsyn Weber with his TD pass going to Collin Haslem. But the Grizzlies were 1-13 on 3rd down but 5 of 8 on 4th down.

Shoshoni finished their historic year at 10-1 with a state title for the first time in 36 years. Rocky Mountain was 9-2 this season, with both losses coming to Shoshoni.

We have a video from that game on Saturday at War Memorial Stadium with some great photos from Bridget Truempler in our gallery. Enjoy!
