Owen Burnett has been a very special performer in distance racing at the high school level. He repeated as the 3A Boys State Cross champion running for Mountain View with a winning time of 16.04.37 and led the race for long stretches on Saturday in Ethete. The back half of the course is especially lonesome but Burnett powered through that to win by over a half minute with Nathan Stevenson of Green River taking 2nd in 16.37.31. Charlie Hulbert from Cody took 3rd with a clocking of 16.49.14 with Aydan Loya of Torrington beating Jack Bishop of Worland in a photo finish.

Burnett competes in track and field for Kemmerer and is the reigning state champion in the 3A 1600 and 3200 meter runs.

Thanks to Burnett's performance, Mountain View won the 3A Boys team championship with 71 points followed by Evanston with 89, Cody with 94 for 3rd with Worland 4th, and Powell 5th.

We have a short video of the 3A race and a few photos as well in our gallery below. Enjoy!
