The 3A East regional wrestling tournament was in Buffalo over the weekend, with Douglas and Worland rising to the top. The Douglas Bearcats took first with 271 points, the Worland Warriors were 2nd with 240 with Burns-Pine Bluffs taking 3rd with 145.

Worland had 3 champions in the 3 lightest weight classes as Anthony Martinez took the podium at 106 pounds with a 4-2 win over Blayne Coleman of Rawlins. Dominic Hartley made it 2 for 2 for the Warriors with a victory at 113 as he beat Dylan Cathcart of Burns-Pine Bluffs by a pin. Then at 120, Daniel Weyrich made it 3 for 3 with a 6-4 decision over Rylan Weir of Douglas

Now Douglas had a champion at 126 with Charlie Koss as he defeated Colton Briscoe of Buffalo by fall. The Cats picked up another title at 132 with Lane Ewing as he outlasted Jake Hicks of Wheatland 6-0. At 138. Kale Corley from Newcastle-Upton won gold with a pin over Keltan Ewing of Douglas

The 145 pound 3A East champion was Devon Swisher of Douglas thanks to a tough 3-1 decision over Wheatlands Noah Whitfield. Clay Reiner of Buffalo made the top of the podium at 152 with a win over Josh Rose of Worland. The score there was 9-4. Worland’s Luke Goncalves, who is a defending state champion earned the 160-pound title in all-star battle with Seth Dewitt of Wheatland. Goncalves wins that one 8-2.

Moving over to 170, Boe Clayson of Burns Pine Bluffs defeated Lane McBee of Worland for first place 7-4. The 182-pound champion was Dawson Stinson of Douglas who posted a pin over Torrington’s Gabe Mitchell. Ben Banville of Burns Pine Bluffs is also a regional champion. He took the gold at 195 with a pin over Kyle Logar of Douglas At 220, defending state champion Cody Pinkerton is 51-0 and pinned Brody Hernandez for the regional title. Finally, at the heavyweight spot, Hunter Pope of Buffalo wins that group with a 6-2 decision over Lincoln Siebert of Burns-Pine Bluffs.
