The 3A Girls State Championship cross-country race was certainly competitive as Ryann Smith of Rawlins battled it out with Ameya Eddy from Lander.

These were 2 of the strongest runners in 3A not only this season but last season too. Eddy made a charge and took the tape for the state championship in a time of 19:29.21. Smith was 2nd in 19:39.76 with Taylen Stinson of Cody 3rd in 19:47.12. Caprice Winn of Mountain View placed 4th and Zena Tapia of Worland was 5th.

In 2021, Eddy as a freshman placed 4th at the 3A cross country meet and also had a strong State Track meet back in May with a 2nd place finish in the 1600 meter run and a 2nd place finish in the 3200.

Cody repeated as the 3A girl's team champions with 58 points. The Fillies went 3-9-10 with last year's state champion, Ava Stafford in that 10-spot. Evanston was 2nd with 71 points, Powell 3rd with 109. Lander took 4th and Rawlins 5th.

We have some stellar pics of that 3A race thanks to Shannon Dutcher in our gallery below and a short video of the event as well. Enjoy!
