Ally Wheeler of Natrona is a strong distance runner and Nordic skier so those two disciplines go hand-in-hand. Wheeler will be headed to Salt Lake City to compete with the University of Utah Nordic Ski program next fall. She also considered the University of Colorado-Boulder but felt that the Utes were the best fit.

Wheeler is the two-time defending state champion in Nordic skiing. She has won the last two girls' individual Classic and Freestyle races at the state championships. That's not easy to do by any stretch. In her freshmen season, Wheeler placed 2nd in the Classic and 3rd in the Freestyle at the 2021 State Meet.

Wheeler is an accomplished distance runner and is the defending 4A Girls State Champion in the 3200-meter run and took 3rd in the 1600 and 9th in the 800 at the 2024 State Track Meet.  Her Natrona team also placed 2nd in the 4x800 relay. As a sophomore, Wheeler had top 5 finishes in the 800, 1600, and 3200 meters events at the 2023 State Track Meet.

She was a regular atop the podium in Cross Country with a 4th place effort at the 2024 State Meet, 2nd at State in her junior season, and 6th in her sophomore year. Wheeler was also a member of the U.S. Junior National Nordic Ski Team and competed in big events in Europe.

Utah is a Division I institution and is a member of the Big 12 Conference.
