Meeteetse's Amanda Cooley will be headed to Rapid City to compete in track and field at the South Dakota School of Mines. Even though her 2020 outdoor season was wiped out due to the pandemic, Cooley put up some impressive numbers in the three previous years.

In 2019 at the state 1A track meet, Cooley placed 2nd in the discus with a toss of 107-10 and 4th in the shot out at 33-09. In her sophomore season at the state meet, she was 5th in the shot with a throw of 31-11 and 7th in the discus at 95-11. Cooley did compete at the 1A state meet as a freshman with a 4th place finish in the discus, tossing 102-10 and 9th in the shot put at 30-3.25.

At the college level, she'll try her hand in the 20 lb. weight throw and the hammer throw. Cooley will major in mechanical engineering.

She was also an all-conference volleyball and basketball player with the Longhorns.
