The inaugural recipient of the WyoPreps Athlete of the Year award for Boys’ Soccer, presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming and Wyld Gear, goes to Jackson Hole High School’s Teddy Opler. He was the leading scorer in Class 4A during the 2024 season and helped the Broncs win the Class 4A state championship last month.

Opler had 93 points in the 2024 season. He scored 34 goals, dished out 25 assists, and earned all-state honors for the third time in his prep career. Opler helped Jackson to an 18-1 overall record, an 11-1 record that tied them for the 4A West Conference regular season crown, and the 4A West Region soccer title. Jackson rolled past the competition at the state tournament with three shutout victories. The Broncs capped it with a 4-0 win over Cheyenne Central in the championship match. Opler scored 2 goals and added 2 assists in that title game. He also led 4A with 6 goals in a single match and had 5 assists in one match this year.

WyoPreps visited with Opler on Wednesday. He was grateful for this honor. He spoke about his play on the pitch, how much his teammates and coaches helped, how the goal of a title was motivated by the end of last year, his love for the game, and more.

Congratulations to our first soccer athlete of the year, Teddy Opler!
