American Legion Baseball Season Begins Across Wyoming Diamonds

Wyoming American Legion Baseball is back! The 2026 season opens this week with 10 teams on the diamond. Gillette opens with games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Those dates are adjusted from their original schedule. Cheyenne will host a round-robin event on Saturday and Sunday, as the Sixers and Hawks take on Laramie and Rock Springs. The Rangers and Stallions will face each other once, as well.

WYOPREPS WEEK 1 LEGION BASEBALL SCHEDULE 2026

Sheridan heads to Rapid City, as the Troopers and Jets face teams from Post 22 and Post 320. The Rider and Rustlers will host Miles City, Montana, for games on Sunday.

The defending champions are the Gillette Riders and Lovell Mustangs, but Wyoming Legion Baseball has a different look in 2026. Gone are the Double-A and Single-A levels. There is now one Senior Legion level with 23 teams and two conferences. WyoPreps will have a feature on the changes in a separate story.

TUESDAY, APRIL 7:

Final Score: Spearfish (SD) Spartans 14 Gillette Riders 4 - The Spartans scored 10 runs over the first two innings and closed it out in six innings. Hawk led the Riders with a double & 2 RBIs.

Final Score: Gillette Riders 11 Spearfish (SD) Spartans 1 - The Riders got the split at home. They led 5-1 through 2 innings and capped it with a 6-run 5th inning. Schilling had 2 hits, including 1 HR, and 4 RBIs. They took advantage of 4 walks and 5 errors.

Final Score: Spearfish Spartans JV 7 Gillette Rustlers 2 - The Spartans scored 4 in the 3rd and 3 in the 5th for the win. The Rustlers had more hits with 8 vs. 3 for Spearfish. Schrock had 2 hits & drove in 1 run for Gillette.

Final Score: Gillette Rustlers 8 Spearfish Spartans JV 2 - Gillette scored 6 runs in their last 2 at-bats to pull out the road split. Fitzgerald had 2 hits (2B) & 2 RBI, while Schrock had 1 hit & 3 RBIs.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8:

Final Score: Rapid City (SD) Steven Raiders 8 Gillette Riders 7 - The Raiders won on a walk-off solo HR with 1 out in the bottom of the 7th. Schilling had a solo HR in the top of the 7th for Gillette that tied the game.

Final Score: Gillette Riders 10 Rapid City Stevens Raiders 1 - A 4-run 4th inning keyed the Riders to the road split. Newman drove in 3 runs, while Craig & Hawk added 2 hits and 1 RBI apiece.

SATURDAY, APRIL 11:

Final Score: Laramie Rangers 14 Cheyenne Hawks 5 - The Rangers used a 5-run 1st inning to take the lead and added 6 more in the 5th. Harris had 2 hits & 2 RBIs. Four other Laramie hitters added 2 RBIs each.

Final Score: Laramie Rangers 13 Cheyenne Hawks 8 - Laramie scored 6 runs in the 5th & 7th innings to pull out the sweep. Jackson Bailey had 3 hits, 2 RBIs, and scored 2 times. McLean added 3 hits & 2 RBIs.

Final Score: Cheyenne Sixers 16 Rock Springs Stallions  0 - Pearson tossed a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts. Tafoya & Hall had 2 hits & 2 RBIs each.

Final Score: Cheyenne Sixers 10 Rock Springs Stallions  0 - The Sixers scored 5 times in the 1st inning. Romero & Cassat combined on a 3-hit shutout. Hall led the offense with 3 hits & 3 RBIs.

Final Score: Rapid City (SD) Post 320 Shooters 12 Sheridan Jets 11 - A sac fly led to a walk-off win for the Shooters. Martinson had 2 hits & drove in 2 for the Jets.

Final Score: Rapid City Post 320 Shooters 14 Sheridan Jets 9 - RC jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the 1st inning. Gillis led the Jets with 2 hits & 1 RBI.

Final Score: Rapid City (SD) Post 22 Hardhats 12 Sheridan Troopers 2 - Post 22 scored 8 runs in the 4th and 4 more in the 5th. Hamrick had 1 hit & 1 RBI, as the Troopers were held to 2 hits.

Final Score: Rapid City Post 22 Hardhats 12 Sheridan Troopers 1 - An 11-run 3rd inning propelled the Hardhats to the sweep. Sheridan was no-hit but had 3 walks & 3 hit batters.

SUNDAY, APRIL 12:

Final Score: Cheyenne Hawks 17 Rock Springs Stallions 1 - The Hawks scored 8 in the 1st inning and added 9 more in the 3rd. Vines had 2 hits (3B) & 3 RBIs. Four more Hawks' players drove in 2 runs each.

Final Score: Rapid City Post 22 Expos 9 Sheridan Jets 4 - A 6-run 6th inning pushed the Expos to the win. Ligocki had 3 hits & 1 run scored for Sheridan.

Final Score: Rapid City Post 22 Expos 18 Sheridan Jets 8 - RC scored in every inning, including 4 or more runs three different times. Martinson had 1 hit & 1 RBI. Sheridan also took advantage of 10 walks and 4 stolen bases.

Final Score: Rapid City Post 320 Stars 11 Sheridan Troopers 3 - The Stars scored in five of their 6 at-bats. Hamrick had 2 hits & 1 RBI to lead Sheridan.

Final Score: Rapid City Post 320 Stars 8 Sheridan Troopers 7 (8 inns.) - RC won on a walk-off RBI triple in the 8th. Ormseth had 2 hits (3B) & 2 RBIs to lead the Troopers' offense.

Final Score: Laramie Rangers 15 Rock Springs Stallions 0 - Richardson and Sutton combined on the 1-hit shutout with 3 Ks and 1 walk. Laramie scored 8 runs in the 1st inning. Carline had 1 hit & 4 RBIs, and Wesnitzer added 1 hit & 3 RBIs.

Final Score: Gillette Rustlers 4 Miles City (MT) Mavericks 3 (9 inns.) - The Rustlers won it in the 9th on a walk-off RBI single by Hamilton. Mefford had 2 hits & 1 RBI for Gillette.

Final Score: Wheatland Lobos 19 Douglas Cats 2 - The Lobos scored 8 in the 1st and 9 more runs in the 2nd inning. Collar & Lauck combined on a 2-hit shutout. Becker homered as part of 2 hits & 5 RBIs for Wheatland. Peralta added 2 hits & 3 RBIs.

Final Score: Wheatland Lobos 18 Douglas Cats 5 - A 4-run 2nd gave Wheatland the lead for good. They capped it with 8 runs in the 5th. Smialek had 3 hits & 4 RBIs. Steinsiek added 3 hits & drove in 2. The Lobos had 8 extra-base hits.

Final Score: Cheyenne Sixers 8 Laramie Rangers 2 - A 5-run 4th inning propelled Cheyenne to the win. Kamarad had 2 hits & 3 RBIs to lead the Sixers' offense. Half of Cheyenne's 10 hits went for extra bases.

Final Score: Gillette Riders 6 Miles City Mavericks 0 - Newman & 2 relievers combined on a 2-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts. Newman also starred at the plate with 2 hits & 5 RBIs. One of those was a grand slam.

Final Score: Cheyenne Sixers 14 Cheyenne Hawks 5 - The Sixers scored 4 runs in the 4th and 6th innings to pull away. Crecelius had 3 hits & 4 RBIs. King added 2 doubles & drove in 3 runs.
