Wheatland High School senior and Cheyenne Post Six infielder Kaed Coates will further his baseball career at the next level after signing to play at Otero Community College in Colorado. Coates has been in the Post 6 at the varsity level over the last two years. He was on the Single-A Cheyenne Hawks for two years, as well, in 2021 and 2022.

Coates helped the Sixers win the 2024 Wyoming American Legion Baseball AA State Tournament last summer in Casper. Cheyenne went 69-19 last season. Coates had a .295 batting average in 81 games played. He finished with 65 hits, which included seven extra-base hits. Coates scored 71 runs and drove in 49 runs. He added 24 stolen bases, drew 33 walks, and struck out 37 times. He was second on the Cheyenne squad in runs scored and hit-by-pitches and top five in total hits and RBIs.

In 2023, Coates helped Cheyenne to a state title, the first regional title in Wyoming Legion Baseball history, and was on the first Sixers’ team to make the American Legion World Series. Cheyenne went 2-2 in that ALWS.

Coates is entering his fifth season in the Cheyenne American Legion system at the AA or A level in Wyoming Legion Baseball in 2025.
