Sheridan Troopers, Cheyenne Sixers Stay Unbeaten at Wyoming Legion D1 State Tournament

Two days are complete at the 2026 Wyoming Legion Baseball Division 1 State Tournament in Gillette. Two teams advanced in the winner's bracket. Two teams stayed alive after winning elimination games. Two teams went home 0-2, and two more suffered their first loss of the tournament on Saturday. You can see some game photos below!

WYOPREPS LEGION BASEBALL D1 STATE TOURNAMENT DAY 2 RECAP 2026

The day began with elimination games. Powell pulled away from the Cheyenne Hawks with a 10-2 victory to remain alive. The Hawks went 0-2 in the tournament and headed home. In the second elimination game, the Sheridan Jets surprised the host and defending state champion Gillette Riders, 4-3. The Jets used a 3-run 6th inning to take the lead. Gillette pulled within one run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but a line-drive double play and a pop-out got Sheridan out of a two-on and no-out jam. The Jets knocked out the Riders.

In the winner's bracket games, the Sheridan Troopers beat the Casper Oilers, 14-8, and the Cheyenne Sixers topped the Laramie Rangers, 12-4. Sheridan exploded for 8 runs in the 3rd inning for an 8-2 lead. Casper rallied with a 5-run 6th inning and pulled within one run at 8-7. The Troopers answered with 6 runs in the bottom of the frame. Laramie jumped to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Sixers responded with 7 runs in the bottom of the first. Cheyenne stretched it to 9-2. The Rangers scored twice in the 4th inning and trimmed it to 9-4. The Sixers scored 3 times in the 5th and 6th to close it out early.
