Three outstanding pitching performances carried the Sheridan Jets, Powell Pioneers, and Cheyenne Sixers to wins on Day 3 of the 2026 Wyoming Legion Baseball Division 1 State Tournament in Gillette. Blake Ligocki, Caden Diaz, and Braden Pearson were the stars in their respective team's victories. The Jets and Pioneers survived elimination games, while the Sixers clinched a spot in the state championship game.

The Sheridan Jets used one big inning at the plate and a great pitching performance from starter Blake Ligocki in their 5-4 win over the Casper Oilers. Trailing 3-0, Sheridan scored all five of their runs in the 4th inning. Zack Kintzi opened with a 2-run single. The Jets tied it on a sac fly. Lucas Hutton and Aaron Baures added RBI singles that put Sheridan in front 5-3. The Oilers got a sac fly in the bottom of the frame, but they fell short. Ligocki went 6.1 innings pitched. He gave up four runs, three earned, on 9 hits with one walk and 5 strikeouts. Blake threw 106 pitches. Hutton came on and got the save by getting the last two outs.

In the second elimination game on Sunday, Powell beat Laramie, 7-1. Caden Diaz had a great effort on the mound. He struck out 11 over 5.2 innings pitched. The Pioneers broke through with two runs in the third inning. An RBI fielder's choice and a passed ball gave Powell the lead. They scored runs over three straight innings to pull away. Carter Fauskee added an RBI double, and a perfectly executed squeeze bunt by Abel Teten led to a 4-1 lead. Dominik Bieber had a 2-run double, and an error led to Powell's last 3 runs.

Finally, in the only winner's bracket game on Sunday, the Cheyenne Sixers blanked the Sheridan Troopers, 7-0. Cheyenne starting pitcher Braden Pearson tossed a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts. He allowed two baserunners on a walk and an error. Pearson threw 98 pitches in his masterpiece. The Sixers broke it open with a five-run fourth inning. Kyler Hauf singled and drove in two runs. Brodin Robbins followed with an RBI groundout. Then, Quentin King had an RBI single. When King stole second base, Colin Crecelius scored on a delayed steal of home for a 6-0 lead. Cheyenne added one more in the sixth inning. King led the Sixers with 2 hits and 2 RBIs. He also scored one run.

Cheyenne's win clinched their spot in the title game on Tuesday.

Day 4 of the Division 1 State Tournament will not match previous opponents in the modified double-elimination event. That will mean the Sheridan Troopers will face the Sheridan Jets in a loser-out contest at 4 p.m. on Monday. The Powell Pioneers will face the Cheyenne Sixers 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. If Powell loses, they are eliminated. If Cheyenne loses, that will set up a loser-out game at noon on Tuesday, and a one-game, winner-take-all championship at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

We've got some photos from two of the three games on Sunday, as I was on the radio for the 4 p.m. game between Powell and Laramie.
